History

Before the restoring of independence, you could only take glass packagings to a packaging collection point or just throw them away.

But a large share of used plastic and metal packagings was simply left in a forest somewhere. This has now changed thanks to Eesti Pandipakend (EPP).
In short, we are a producer responsibility organisation administrating the national system of deposit-subjected packagings.

The packaging deposit is established by the Minister of the Environment for glass and plastic bottles. If you buy a carbonised drink, beer, some other low-alcohol beverage, juice, juice concentrate or nectar, then you also pay the deposit.

Eesti Pandipakend is acting under accreditation by the Ministry of the Environment (issued on 11.03.2005).
